ONS-SA
Chapter President's Message
Dear ONS
San Antonio Members,
On
behalf of the ONS Board for San Antonio’s Chapter, I am
pleased to use this electronic
communication to stay in touch with you and share
information that may be of interest to you.
Our
Program Coordinator, Lilia Cenedoza, has worked diligently
to get commitment for dinner meeting
support
through July this year. We welcome all of your comments on
the evaluation at the conclusion of
our
dinner meetings to guide our decisions about what to offer
to keep you up to date and interested in
providing excellent oncology nursing care.
Our
raffles that are the held at the conclusion of each dinner
meeting are the time for fun and
camaraderie among members. If you have any items that you
would like to donate to the raffle, please
give
them to a Board Member. Remember that we have a special
raffle going on for the beautiful
handmade
quilt top until October for SLEW. The tickets for this SLEW
project are $5 each.
Our
chapter is able to offer scholarships for our members to
attend ONS national meetings for Congress,
Fall
Institute of Learning, and the scholarships for nursing
students. We would like to encourage
applicants to write the Nominating Committee their letter
stating their educational goals and need for
these
scholarships. The Nominating Committee members are: Judy
Motzagamba, Patricia Wolfe,
Jackie
Kemp, and Jill Dickerson. .
Our most
exciting upcoming event is the 2008 Relay for Life, which
will be held on May 16 and 17th at
Jose
Lopez Middle School. The location is 23103 Hardy Oak Blvd.,
which is north of 1604, off of Blanco
Road.
Map quest gives excellent directions. Dianne Hallworth has
already paid the fee for our team,
but if
anyone wants to donate they certainly can. Details of events
planned will be released soon.
In
short, this is an exciting time to be part of the San
Antonio ONS. I look forward to communicating with
you
regularly as we work together to raise the profile of
oncology nursing.
Sincerely,
Barbara
Owens
